The Royal University for Women (RUW) in the Kingdom of Bahrain is seeking the following positions for its 2013-2014 academic year starting from September 2014.

Centre For General Studies
  • Secretary
    Candidate Preferred to have :
    Essential Criteria
    • Fluent in oral and written English
    • Ability to work under strict deadlines
    • Competent use of MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    Desired Criteria
    • Bachelor degree
    • Minimum 1 year work experience as secretary
Student Affairs
  • Dean Student Affairs
    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
    • Minimum of ten years professional Student Affairs related experience are required.
    • Experience in guidance, counseling (coaching, training, mentoring) and public relations.
    • Working experience in the Gulf region is preferable.
    • Aware of Gulf people cultures is preferable.
    • PhD, preferably in Humanities and / or its related fields (Psychology, Education, Nursing, and sociology).
    DESIRED CRITERIA:
    • Excellent leadership and managerial skills and the capacity to supervise and lead a student affairs staff.
    • Able to be a good listener and verbal communicator.
    • Problem-solving skills are also extremely important.
    • Able to manage the staff of the student affairs department; as such he/she must be a strong, motivational leader.
    • Strong organizational skills are essential.
Faculty of Art & Design
  • Dean Faculty of Art & Design

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • At least 3+ years of experience in academic administration or any related setting to become familiar with academic programmes, policies and regulations necessary to hold authority over the activities of an educational institution.
    • Having a proven track record as a leader, teacher and public servant in a variety of settings is critical.
    • PhD in Art & Design or any specialisation (Fashion, Interior or Graphic)
    • Should have five years of university-level teaching experience after PhD; as will be required to teach courses at Undergraduate and Masters’ Level.
    • Minimum Associate Professor from a reputed University
    • The preferred candidate should have work experience that demonstrates progressive levels of responsibility.

    DESIRED CRITERIA:

    • Ability of time management.
    • Good Interpersonal skills.
    • Ability of assessment.
    • Good skills in verbal and written communication, organization, budget preparation, developing and implementing goals, managing resources, strategic planning and interdisciplinary scholarly skills.

  • Assistant/ Associate Professor for Architectural Design

    Specialization: (Architectural Design)

    Position Begins: September 1, 2014

    Position Description
    The successful candidate will teach all levels of Architectural design studio and core courses, and fully participate in student advising, curriculum development committee work, departmental and University service.

    The qualified candidate will have: a full understanding of Architecture, History of Architecture, Building Construction materials, lighting, acoustics, Mechanical system, construction details, and the ability of using CAD Programme and 3D Max.

    Maintain disciplinary currency via active engagement in research, scholarship and creative activity.

    For completing the application all candidates should send cover letter, curriculum vitae, and their portfolio. (Their own design and students work). (max. 10 MB or Post).

    Qualifications
    The successful candidate must have a PhD in Architectural Design or Architecture, Computer skills, using CAD & 3D Max software, or related field with a minimum of two years teaching experience in a University setting and should have full understanding of Design concepts, architecture, History of Architecture, Building construction materials, lighting, acoustics, Mechanical system and construction details. The candidate should have an expertise in Design fundamentals, Innovation in design, sustainable design, Architectural Design and should be able to teach both at under graduate and post graduate level. Relevant research experience and publications will be an added qualification. Computer skills, using CAD & 3 D Max software are preferred.
  • Assistant / Associate Professor for Fine Arts

    Specialization: (Drawing & Painting)

    Position Begins: September 1, 2014

    Position Description
    The successful candidate will teach all levels of Fine Arts studio and core courses, and fully participate in student advising, curriculum development committee work, departmental and University service.

    The qualified candidate will have a full understanding of theory and practical aspects of Sketching, Drawing Painting, Media experimentation. Further knowledge of Contemporary issues in Art, History and theory of Art, Semiotics and Philosophy of Art will be desirable. The candidate should be able to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.

    Maintain disciplinary currency via active engagement in research, scholarship and creative activity.

    Qualifications
    The successful candidate must have a PhD in Fine Arts, Drawing & painting or related field with a minimum of two- three years teaching experience in a University setting in Fine Arts, Drawing, Painting or Media Experimentation. The candidate should be conceptual in theory and practice at undergraduate and Post Graduate levels in design concepts with emphasis on creativity, Innovation in drawing, painting, History and Philosophy of Art, Contemporary Art and Artistic Experimentation. Relevant research experience and publications will be an added qualification. The candidate should preferably have proficiency in both Arabic and English.
Faculty of Business & Financial Sciences

Faculty of Business and Financial Sciences of Royal University for Women, Bahrain, the first private University for women in Bahrain, is seeking individuals for the positions of

  • Assistant Professor in Banking & Finance
  • Assistant Professor in Human Resource Management

The academic position requires extensive experience, proven research capability and a record of accomplishments in an educational environment.
