The Royal University for Women (RUW) in the Kingdom of Bahrain is seeking the following positions for its 2014-2015 & 2015-16 academic year.

Centre For General Studies
  • Director of CGS
    Essential Criteria
    • PhD degree holder in English / Social Sciences and other related field
    • At least 3 years of experience in academic administration or any related setting to become familiar with academic programmes, policies and regulations necessary to hold authority over the activities of an educational institution.
    • Having a proven track record as a leader, teacher and public servant in a variety of settings.
    • Valuable publications in reputable and refereed journals, books or conference proceedings in the relevant field of specialization.
    • Minimum rank of Assistant Professor from a reputed University.
    • Should have three (3) years of University-level teaching experience after PhD.
    Desired Criteria
    • Master Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or TESL (Teaching English As Second Language) or TEFL (Teaching English as Foreign Language) is desirable.
    • Teaching experience at postgraduate level.
    • Proven research capability
    • Strong Knowlegde of Liberal Arts courses
    • With record of accomplishments in an educational environment.
    • Strong and effective interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, in the English Language.

Student Affairs
  • Dean Student Affairs
    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
    • Minimum of ten years professional Student Affairs related experience are required.
    • Experience in guidance, counseling (coaching, training, mentoring) and public relations.
    • Working experience in the Gulf region is preferable.
    • Aware of Gulf people cultures is preferable.
    • PhD, preferably in Humanities and / or its related fields (Psychology, Education, Nursing, and sociology).
    DESIRED CRITERIA:
    • Excellent leadership and managerial skills and the capacity to supervise and lead a student affairs staff.
    • Able to be a good listener and verbal communicator.
    • Problem-solving skills are also extremely important.
    • Able to manage the staff of the student affairs department; as such he/she must be a strong, motivational leader.
    • Strong organizational skills are essential.
Faculty of Art & Design
  • Assistant Professor, Graphic Design

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • PhD in Graphic Design, Computer Graphics or Digital Graphics, Multimedia or in any related field
    • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the University level
    • Proficiency in a range of applications, including Flash, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite and other Applicable Software.
    • Secondary teaching knowledge in Photography, Web Design, Motion Graphics or 2D Animation.
    • Interdisciplinary focus that facilitates research and teaching

    DESIRED CRITERIA:

    • Expertise to teach all aspects of computer graphics and photography.
    • Should be able to teach at Undergraduate and Graduate levels.
    • Relevant research experience and publications will be an added field.
    • Excellent Interpersonal, Organizational and Communication skills.
    • The candidate should have proficiency in both Arabic and English.
  • Assistant Professor, Fine Arts

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • PhD in Fine Arts, Drawing and Painting or related field
    • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the University level
    • Interdisciplinary focus that facilitates research and teaching collaborations

    DESIRED CRITERIA:

    • The candidate should be conceptual in theory and practice at Undergraduate and Post Graduate levels in design concepts with empahsis on creativity, innovation in drawing, painting, history and philosposphy of art, contemporary art and artisitic experimentation.
    • Relevant research experience and publications will be an added field.
    • The candidate should have proficiency in both Arabic and English
  • Assistant Professor, Architecture

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • PhD in Architecture or in any related field
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of teaching experience at the University level
    • Interdisciplinary focus that facilitates research and teaching

    DESIRED CRITERIA:

    • With experience in teaching: architectural design at various levels, building materials and building construction, acoustics and lighting in architecture, etc.
    • Proficiency in a range of CAD Software applications, especially Auto CAD, Sketch-up, Photoshop, 3D Max or any other 3D application software.
    • Preferably with a record of scholarly and / or professional / creative work.
    • Should be able to teach at Undergraduate and Graduate levels.
    • Relevant research experience and publications will be an added field.
    • The candidate should have proficiency in both Arabic and English.
  • Associate Professor, Architecture

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • PhD in Architecture or in any related field
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of teaching experience at the University level

  • Faculty Secretary

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

    • Fluent in oral and written English
    • Ability to work under strict deadlines
    • Competent use of MS Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

    DESIRED CRITERIA:

    • Bachelor Degree holder
    • Minimum of 1 year work experience as Secretary
