        About RUW

The Royal University for Women (RUW) is the first private, purpose-built, international University in the Kingdom of Bahrain dedicated solely to educating women. RUW provides a comfortable environment in which to create leaders, develop vibrant personalities, dynamic decision makers, independent thinkers and community-conscious individuals. Our main focus is on academic excellence and personal development.

RUW's initial degree programmes were designed in collaboration with two reputed universities, McGill University in Canada and Middlesex University in the U.K.

        WELCOME NOTE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Mohammed Al-Zamil,
RUW Chairman,
Board of Trustees & Board of Directors

I take great pride in acknowledging this milestone in the development of Royal University for Women.

Since its first academic year in 2005-06 until now, its fourth year in operation, RUW has made great strides in consolidating its place amongst the leading Academic Institutions in the region.

The Royal University Policy Manual is the result of much deliberation by the Board of Directors who approved the policies on December 27th 2007. They were then approved by the Board of Trustees at their first meeting held on June 18th 2008 and are now ready for implementation during the Academic Year 2008-09.

These policies are in line with Higher Education Council Regulations. This document is proof of the hard work, determination and dedication to service shown by all cadres of the Executive and Staff body who have worked not just to produce this document but to contribute and develop the Policies documented herein. We hope that these policies will provide the basis for a fair and supportive working environment for students and staff members.

I extend my thanks to the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, The Board of Trustees, and above all to the Administrative Leadership at RUW for providing the support and guidance that have brought RUW this far and who will no doubt, continue to lead it towards a productive and successful future.

         WELCOME NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Prof. Mazin Jumah, Ph.D
RUW President

Welcome to all new and returning students.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to another promising year at RUW. The Academic Session 2008-2009 marks our fourth year in operation and will deliver our first batch of graduates to have completed four years of study at RUW.

This is an important year for us all. This year we look forward to creating more avenues for advancement and creativity and to further develop those pathways already in use, both for the RUW community as well as the wider public.

Those of you who have been here since inception will have observed that changes are taking place on many levels. This is a step towards greater integration within RUW and in its extended role as a landmark institution.

2008 will see our first graduates pass through the doors of RUW and enter the real world. We are certain that the time you have spent here has equipped you meet the challenges of life and your chosen professional careers.

Finally, let me remind you, that this stage in your life is marked by tremendous energy and an ability to work hard. Use this time well, use it to its fullest potential, fill your days with a work ethic based on 'the pursuit of Excellence'.

Give today your best, so that tomorrow you can reap the benefits of your own hard work and determination.
