RUW students gear up for the second semester of AY 2016-17

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at Royal University for Women (RUW) held its annual Student Orientation Programme on 29th January 2017 . RUW President Prof. Mazin Jumaah welcomed new students, and wished them every success in their university life. In his message to new students and their families Prof. Jumah emphasised the world-class educational services that are provided by RUW to all students which help them become well-rounded, mature, leading individuals. Prof. Jumah reiterated to students and parents that RUW offers an environment where students can excel in academia and on an individual basis due to the holistic approach of the University.

 

Ms. Doris Martin Director of Student Affairs, welcomed students and their families explaining the various services, clubs and extra-curricular activities organized by the office as well as the facilities available to their use. She stressed that RUW provided dedicated resources to serve the students of the University which aims to be the region’s leading University dedicated to the education of women. The Vice President of the RUW Student Council AY 2016-17, Ms Layla Al Thawadi conducted a presentation about the role of the Student Council and encouraged students to participate fully in campus life in order to fully benefit from the undergraduate experience.

 

The Deans of College of Art and Design, College of Business and Financial Sciences, College of Law and College of Information Technology presented their respective messages of welcome to students and parents. Presentations by the registrar at royal University for Women Mr Sami Mohammed and the Librarian Manager Dr Saroyan Jain followed . RUW Alumnae also presented inspiring words of advice to the new joiners. The presentations were followed by refreshments. Representatives of student clubs were on hand to introduce the new joiners to their respective clubs.

 

Following the formal event, PR staff assisted by members of the RUW Student Council in taking new students on a campus tour and were shown the facilities including the Library, Residence Halls, Art and Design Exhibition Center, Learning Center, Gym, Sports Centre & Stadium, Cafeteria and newly opened restaurants and retail spaces. OSA Staff and Student Council held ice breaking activities to help students to get to know each better.
