RUW President Moderates “New Models of Mobility” in the Inaugural Gulf Higher Education Conference

The President of Royal University for Women, Professor Yusra Mouzughi participated in the Inaugural Gulf Higher Education Conference organised by Al Hambra – U.S. Chamber and Keystone. The conference was conducted on the 10th & 11th October 2021 and witnessed the participation of more than 1000 leaders, experts and academics from the higher education sector of 70 countries around the world including prominent figures from Bahrain and the Arab Region such as the Secretary-General of Association of Arab Universities H.E Amr Salama.

Prof Mouzughi moderated the panel “New Models of Mobility” that included higher education leaders and academics notably Phil Noble, Fellow in Harvard University and Founder of World Class Scholars, Nancy Gleason the Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning at NYU Abu Dhabi and Hugh Martin, Registrar and CAO of British University in Dubai.

In the opening remarks, Professor Yusra expressed her pleasure in participating in this conference that provided the opportunity to collaborate with and engage higher education leaders to share knowledge and inspire through ideas and experience. She said “ I am delighted to be involved in this event as the higher education sector is witnessing unprecedented changes including a shift from ‘bricks to clicks’ and mobility is an area of work that will also need to adapt to these changing modalities of learning Therefore we raise a question to explore ideas and thoughts on what would hybrid mobility look like and what does it mean to us as educators during COVID and post COVID”.

The panellists discussed several areas such as educational context reflections, students experience during COVID, sense to the community, content delivery, learning delivery process, providing a mechanism to connect and the opportunities and evolving challenges.
