RUW INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH CONFERENCES
RUW Biannual conferences “Women in Society”
Royal University for Women (RUW) has firmly established itself as a hub for advancing women-focused academic and societal discussions through its biennial "Women and Society" conferences. These conferences are a testament to RUW’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and leadership by addressing their evolving roles, contributions, and challenges across various sectors.
Under the leadership of the newly launched Women's Research Centre, RUW is proud to announce that it will host the next "Women and Society" conference in May 2025. This upcoming event marks a new era, with the Women’s Research Centre spearheading initiatives to drive meaningful research, foster impactful collaborations, and explore innovative strategies to enhance women’s contributions in society.
The "Women and Society" conferences have a legacy of tackling women-focused themes that resonate with contemporary global and regional challenges. The third conference in 2020, for instance, centered on "Women and the 4th Industrial Revolution," exploring how technological advancements influence women’s participation in the economy, politics, and society. It emphasized empowering women in STEM fields and entrepreneurship to ensure they play a leading role in a technology-driven future. Such topics reflect RUW’s forward-thinking approach to addressing the needs and aspirations of women.
Each conference has drawn a diverse audience of women-focused stakeholders, including academics, policymakers, industry professionals, and students, creating an inclusive and collaborative environment for interdisciplinary dialogue. A key feature has been the active participation of students, who present research and innovative projects, showcasing their potential as future leaders. These contributions not only enrich the conference experience but also inspire broader conversations about the importance of empowering women in academic and professional spaces.
The 2025 conference, led by the Women’s Research Centre, will build on this strong foundation, introducing new women-focused themes that address critical issues while celebrating the progress women have made across various domains. The event will include keynote speeches, expert panel discussions, interactive workshops, and student research presentations, all designed to highlight the importance of interdisciplinary research and actionable outcomes for advancing women’s roles in society.
By hosting the 2025 "Women and Society" conference, RUW reaffirms its role as a leading institution in promoting women-focused initiatives and fostering meaningful discussions about the transformative power of women in shaping a sustainable and equitable future. This event will serve as a catalyst for driving change and influencing policies that empower women to thrive in all spheres of life.
