A WELCOME NOTE FROM THE ACTING DEAN OF COLLEGE OF BUSINESS & FINANCIAL SCIENCES
A very warm welcome to you all in the new academic year!
This academic year 2020-21 will be a bit different from other years due to the global pandemic, the requirements for safety and a transition year for the College. The need for social distancing has led to opt for different learning modes in order to continue learnings without disruptions and I can assure you, as Acting Dean that you will keep receiving top quality education of a leading business schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The digital transformation has smoothly supported the learning experience in our College. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Students have taken part in live streamed interactive lessons and had access to videos and lessons for independent learning and will continue to do so. Faculty members will be available on campus in their office hours for any academic support. The library will also support the students in their distance learning experience thanks to the use of e-brary and Proquest throughout the semester.
All programs in CBFS will continue to impart learnings under its four core competencies i.e Knowledge and Understanding, Subject specific skills, Critical thinking skills and General and transferable skills which all students are required to achieve.
The College also strongly believes that despite the current challenges, interaction is a key component of the student experience. We have been missing daily chit chat with our students. so "JUST MEETUP " will be scheduled every Sunday to talk to your friends or professors and share some wonderful ideas and showcase your creativity. As an Acting Dean, I also would like to set up a communication channel "CBFS CAREs" every week where students can raise any academic concerns they have with me and the head of the department.
COVID 19 has not stopped our College to meet ambitious goals. Our students showed resilience and proved that virtual learning was not an obstacle to carry RUW flag in international competitions. Our Trading Quest and our INJAZZ teams both trained hard and won prizes in online versions of the respective contests.
Faculty members worked throughout the semester and the summer to complete the mapping application for our Marketing program. And finally, despite the limitations of international collaborations, some of our colleagues also took advantage of professional training with strategic partner, West Virginia University, and others developed a grant on virtual exchange to take place this semester. So yes, CBFS tackled this digital transformation and is more than ever ready to embrace new challenges…
Wishing you all productive and a fulfilling academic year.
