Short Bio: Dr. Bettina Lynda Bastian, M.P.S, M.Sc., PhD, earned her doctorate in Technology and Innovation Management (Corporate Strategy) and her Master in Energy from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, as well as her master’s in political science from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. Since 2021, Bettina serves as Dean at the College of Business and Financial Sciences (CBFS) at the Royal University for Women (RUW), Bahrain.  Before this assignment, Bettina served as Head of Academic Programs in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon (USEK).  Here, she covered a portfolio of 15 faculties with over 7000 students, academics & staff and considerable international partnerships. In 2019 she became Associate Dean for Research at the USEK Business School. Bettina is editor in chief of the Arab Economic Business Journal (AEBJ) and guest editor of diverse special issues concerned with women’s advancement and women’s entrepreneurship. Her research is internationally recognized for translating social science into work policies and practices that promote entrepreneurship and sustainable business, especially women’s development and capacity building. Her publications about the Middle East pay close attention to the unique socio-cultural and geo-political context and provides foundational knowledge for the development of government policy and organizational policies.

Research interests: My academic work is inspired by the Schumpeterian idea that entrepreneurship and innovation are the major driving forces behind development, and as such, they can be leveraged to empower regions, countries, and individuals. In this context, I address the intersections of gender, culture, governance, policy and organization associated with entrepreneurship and innovation.

Dr. Arpita A Mehrotra, graduated with a Bachelor,  Masters  and Ph.D. in Commerce  from University of Lucknow, India. Her dissertation title was "Changing demographics and its impact on the marketing strategies of FMCG manufacturers in post liberalised era". In India, she has served as Director of Marketing and Academics in Mumbai School of Business. Dr. Arpita joined RUW in 2011 and got appointed Head of the Finance Department in 2013. As Head of Department, she has been closely involved with the success of Program Review and Mapping Qualifications framework. She is also a member of the AACSB accreditation team and supports relationships with alumnae. Her area of interest is accounting, financial management, mergers and acquisitions. For the past three years, Dr. Arpita has coached the RUW team who took part in the Trading Quest competition with the Bahrain Bourse leading the squad  to the top 3 places for each participation. In terms of her own professional development, Dr. Arpita recently completed the Oxford Blockchain Strategy Program from Said Business School, University of Oxford. Dr. Mehrotra, has also been very active in extracurricular activities related to the field of music, social service and mass communication media. She has a Visharad (graduation) degree in Classical music. She has been a radio artist and has sung many songs for All India Radio. In the field of social service Dr. Mehrotra has helped several non government organisations to raise funds for orphanages, old age homes and bed ridden abandoned patients.

Dr. Ramprakash Bharateesh Kasi, PhD

Dr. Ramprakash Bharateesh Kasi, earned his doctorate and two master degrees from Bangalore University, India. His doctorate thesis was in the area of information technology service marketing and his master thesis was on sales force management in the pharma industry. He is also a recipient of the Confederation of Indian Industry Industrial fellowship award for his research in corporate citizenship behavior undertaken for Philips Software Centre, Bangalore. Dr. Kasi has passed the national education test for lectureship eligibility from the University Grants Commission, India. Dr Kasi has extensive experience (over 19 years) as a quality assurance professional and a business educator. Before joining RUW, Dr Kasi was with an institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of Bahrain, responsible for implementing institution-wide quality improvement and enhancement measures and coordinating the development of the institution’s strategic plan. Dr Kasi has also served as an Assistant Professor at a leading higher education institution based in Bangalore, teaching Bachelor and Master level courses in Business and Management. Dr Kasi has to his credit a number of publications in refereed journals. He has also presented research papers in national and international conferences and has served on various committees and panels in Bahrain and India.

Dr.Elizabeth M Samuel, earned her doctorate and two master degrees from, India. Her doctorate thesis was in the area of business management and his master thesis was on Finance and Accounting. She is also a Fellow member of Higher Education Academy, UK. She has extensive experience (over 18 years) as accounting, finance and management educator. Dr. Elizabeth has also served as an Assistant Professor at a leading higher education institution in Bahrain, teaching Bachelor and Master level courses in Business and Management. Over the past Years, Dr.Elizabeth has been working as a Academic Instructor, researcher and Advisor. She has been teaching both the undergraduate and graduate students in various curriculum. She was a committee member of Quality Assurance for Academic Standards at her previous university and at RUW .  She has also conducted a one day workshop on "In house training programmes for the faculties of business Dr. Elizabeth  also presented research papers in national and international conferences  in different parts of the world and has published articles in referred journals.

Dr. Al-Barghouthi believes in the right of education for women and children in the Arab society. On the academic level, Dr. Al-Barghouthi published a book and several articles on women empowerment and leadership. Out of her strong belief in the importance of women's role in the society, and that education should start at an early age by reinforcing the young generation's sense of belonging in their culture, and heritage, she published several books, novels, and plays for a juvenile on History identity, culture, and heritage.

Dr. Nehal El Naggar received her a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Ain Shams University, Egypt. She completed her MBA majoring in Globalization and International Business with a thesis titled “A Critical Appraisal of the UN eGovernment Readiness Report, A Case Study on Egypt” from Maastricht School of Management (MSM), The Netherlands. She holds a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration in Human Resources Management with a research titled “Measuring the Employability Gap, The Managers’ Vs. The Employees’ Perspectives” from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.

Over the past twelve Years, Dr. Nehal has been working as a Researcher, Academic Instructor and Advisor, a Business Consultant and a Management Trainer. She has been teaching both the undergraduate and graduate students in various National and International Universities in Egypt. She has been actively involved in assisting and supervising post graduate students both on the Masters and Doctorate levels in Maastricht School of Management (MSM), the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and The GUC. Dr. Nehal has the passion for research, personal development and empowerment of students. Dr. El Naggar won the Technology in Governments in Africa Award (TIGA) while working with the Egyptian Government as a Business Development Officer at the Ministry of State for Administrative Development (MSAD).

Dr. Matthias Bode earned his Business Economics Diploma in Germany (University of Hannover). After that, he focused in his PhD work on the role of music in business communications. He has been teaching for more than 16 years Marketing, Brand Management, Consumer Research, Advertising and Consumer Culture Theory at universities in Germany (University of Hannover; University of Oldenburg; Bauhaus University Weimar)), in the USA (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and in Denmark (University of Southern Denmark). Since 2007 he worked at the University of Southern Denmark, first as a visiting lecturer, then as an Assistant Professor, and since 2010 as an Associate professor. He worked for the European Union project on sustainable households, developing and executing research in several European countries with multi-stakeholders on the consumer acceptance of future oriented solutions to make household activities like washing, cooling, heating, more sustainable. He has also experience as an advisor for audio branding consulting. In his academic research he asks the question how marketing is shaped and shaping the cultural, social and historical context it comes from and acts upon. He published a book together with Prof. Dr. Ursula Hansen on the history and development of marketing theory and practice in Germany. With the same co-author, he also published one of the first German academic contributions on the role of gender in marketing theory. He has published widely in international journals and books, served as a member of program committees for international conferences, participated in numerous global conferences, and is serving as a reviewer for international conferences and journals. Dr. Matthias Bode has a strong personal and professional interest in sound and music. He follows the Austrian late-Romantic composer Gustav Mahler, who declared that the most important part of music is not to be found in the notes.

Dr. Debashish Sengupta  is a celebrated award-winning author of the book – ‘The Life of Y’ – Engaging Millennials as Employees and Consumers (Sage, 2018) and “The Life of Z – Understanding Digital Preteen and Adolescent Generation’. His book ‘The Life of Y’ won the first prize at the pretigious DMA-NTPC Business Book Awards, 2018. His book  is also an Amazon bestseller and has been featured by Stanford University. The foreword to this book has been written by Marshall Goldsmith and introduction by  Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. Dr Sengupta is also the co-author of the Crossword Bestseller and KPMG cited book, Employee Engagement. He has authored five other acclaimed books. His latest book ‘The Life of Z: Understanding Digital Preteen and Adolescent Generation’ has been released this year and is a sold-out at Amazon. Dr. Sengupta holds professional certifications from Harvard Business School, Harvard University (HarvardX), Wesleyan University, US and Japan Management Association. He  is a dual Ph.D, completed his Ph D in Management from Central University of Nicaragua (UCN) AND Azteca University, Mexico. His papers have featured in leading international journals and numerous business media publications and has over 100 publications to his credit. Recently he was featured globally as the ‘author of the week’ by PM World Journal, USA to honour his research contributions. He has received several research awards in his career spanning over two decades including best paper awards and young researcher award. His strategic and practical insights guide leaders of large and small organizations worldwide, through his teaching, writing, and direct consultation to major corporations and governments. He is a consultant and business advisor to various Indian and multinational companies. Dr Sengupta is a frequent speaker at various business forums. He currently works as Professor at Royal University for Women, Bahrain. He has also taught in various international exchange programs and his diverse interactions with students from India, US, Europe and Far East find reflections in his work on millennials. He is also the Asia Editor of the London-based global online magazine – ‘Future of Earth’.

Dr. Charbel El Khoury holds a PhD degree in Marketing from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon, and is an Associate Professor at the College of Business & Financial Sciences of the Royal University for Women in the Kingdom of Bahrain, where he lectures in Marketing and Management. Dr. El Khoury holds more than a decade of experience in curricula management and development, experiential learning, business schools’ strategic development, and quality assurance projects. His research interests mainly revolve around retail atmospherics, consumer behavior, green marketing, and social entrepreneurship. In 2015, Dr. El Khoury completed his Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program for Lebanon at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA.
