RUW students gear up for the Academic Year 2017-18

The Office of Student Affairs at Royal University for Women (RUW) began its annual Student Orientation Programme on 17-18th September 2017. At the event, RUW President Prof. Mazin Jumah welcomed the new and returning students, wishing them success in their academic endeavours. He added that the orientation programme is an integral part of welcoming new students to the RUW family as well as part of a broader plan to provide world-class educational services to all students, to help them become well-rounded, mature, leading individuals while familiarizing themselves with RUW as a place where they can excel academically and develop socially.

Ms. Sameeneh Shirazie, Director of Student Affairs welcomed the students and their families and provided an overview of the various services, extra-curricular activities and student clubs organised by the Office of Student Affairs as well as the facilities available to students. She stressed that RUW provides world class resources that serve the students of the University and its Vision of being the region’s leading university devoted to the higher education of women. The presentation by the Director of Student Affairs was followed by a brief address by Ms. Essra Haji, President of the RUW Student Council where she detailed the activities planned by the student council and extended the full support of the student-led body to the new and returning students.  This was followed by presentations by RUW alumnae returning to the Royal University for Women for the day, to welcome new students and to impart valuable advice to the students based on their own experiences.

The programme was followed by a campus tour, which included the Library, Residence Halls, Art & Design Exhibition Centre, Student Centre, Gym, RUW Sports Stadium, Café and newly launched supporting facilities. The tour was followed by ice breaker activities along with an opportunity to meet representatives of the various student clubs and the Student Council as well as Alumnae of Royal University for Women.
