COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY – PROFILE

The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) aims to provide exceptional education and research opportunities to women in engineering and technology, promoting gender equality, innovation, and sustainability towards a better future.

CET provides a comprehensive academic curriculum that caters to the needs of students with diverse interests and aspirations. Our academic programmess are designed to meet the highest international standards and prepare graduates to become leaders in their respective fields, demonstrating initiative, creativity, and critical thinking skills. 

The CET is home to two departments offering forward-thinking undergraduate programmes. The Department of Engineering offers a 5-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture. The Department of Technology offers two 4-year programmes: the Bachelor of Science in Digital Media and Interactive Technology and the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. 

Undergraduate Programmes

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECHTURE

The Bachelor of Science in Architecture program aims to educate future female architects who will create the sustainable built environment of tomorrow. The BSc. in Architecture (BSc. Arch) is a five-year program with 169 credits offering a comprehensive curriculum. Our program prepares graduates to meet international standards and become valuable community members. It is designed for female high school graduates with a passion for architecture, strong skills in mathematics, arts, and design, and proficiency in English.

The program offers a comprehensive foundation in architectural design and engineering principles, while fostering creativity and innovation. It emphasizes hands-on learning, research, and an understanding of the architect's role in society. Students will explore the interrelationships between humans and their environment, develop essential design methodologies, and commit to sustainable, eco-friendly practices that address community needs.

The offered courses allow students to master the power and privilege of shaping the built environment—creating a more livable and sustainable space that promotes health, happiness, and social interaction among citizens. Students learn how to create responsive and inclusive built environments by considering cultural, social, and environmental factors, mastering the design thinking process, design representation, and the detailed technical aspects of buildings.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN DIGITAL MEDIA AND INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY 

The BSc in Digital Media and Interactive Technology programme aims to develop the required skills for market needs by providing digital media and interactive design expertise to Bahrain, GCC and the international markets.

The Digital Media and Interactive Technology (DMIT) bachelor programme seeks to advance expertise in a rapidly growing field. Students concentrate their studies in emphasis areas of the latest technology focusing on Interactive Multimedia, Web Design and Development, Mobile Apps Design, Digital Video, 2D/3D Animation, Virtual Reality, Game Design, Social Media, Digital Marketing, and computer programming. 

This unique interdisciplinary programme incorporates Information Technology, Art & Design, and Mass Communication coursework. Through three specialisations, the students will have opportunities to engage in practical labs, where students will work through the entire iteration process for digital projects to develop their career skills in IT, art and design and mass communication. 

Careers that graduates can expect to go into after graduation include Interactive Multimedia Designer, Web Designer and Developer, Content Management System (CMS) Admin, User Experience and Interaction Designer (UX/UI), Game Designer and Developer, e-Publishing Designer, Digital Journalist, Mobile Apps Designer & Developer, 2D / 3D Animator, 2D/3D Virtual Reality Designer, Visual Effects and Motion Graphics Designer, Digital Video Producer, Social Media Specialist, Digital Marketing Specialist, E-Commerce Specialist, and more.
