Dr. Humam Elagha earned his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems in 2011 from the University of Banking and Financial Sciences, Jordan. He obtained his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in computer engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in 2002 and 2000, respectively. Dr. Elagha brings over 20 years of academic experience in teaching and research in Engineering and Information Technology (IT), with most of his career spanning universities in Bahrain, the UAE, and Northern Cyprus.
Since joining the Royal University for Women (RUW) in 2012 as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Elagha has been promoted to Associate Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS). He has held several leadership roles, including Head of Department in the College of Information Technology, Director of the Centre for General Studies (2018–2024), and Programme Coordinator in the College of Engineering and Technology. Currently, he serves as the Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology.
Dr. Elagha's research focuses on Information Systems Management and IT Governance. A prolific scholar, he has published over 25 research papers in international journals and conferences. Additionally, he is actively involved in professional associations and organizations, including the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), the IT Governance Institute (ITGI), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Jean-Pierre El Asmar is an Italian and Lebanese Professor of Architecture and a professional Architect. He holds a PhD in Sustainable Built Environment from the De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom (2008), and a Laurea Di Dottore in Architettura, from the Università degli Studi di Firenze, Italy (1991). His main areas of expertise are in Architectural Design and Building Technologies. His research study is in the fields of Sustainability and more particularly Energy Efficient Architecture, and mainly Passive Design strategies and technologies. The approach is by learning from Vernacular Architecture and adapting vernacular design into the contemporary buildings. This is also incorporated in his projects as a professional consultant Architect in Lebanon. He participated in different Architecture Competitions. He also coordinated a group of Architects from Italy and Lebanon in the design of the Beirut Martyrs’ Square International Urban Design Competition. The project they proposed was short-listed among the first six projects of 122 designs submitted from 45 countries to proceed to the second phase of the competition. He is interested in sustainable development as a holistic approach to growth with particular focus on the sustainable rehabilitation of the man-made environment “to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the needs of future generation”.
Dr Sherif Khashaba

Dr. Sherif Khashaba holds a Ph.D. in Architectural Design (2004), a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Architectural Design, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Architectural Engineering. He has an extensive career in teaching architectural design, building construction, working drawings, interior design, smart buildings, and sustainability across Lebanon, Bahrain, and Egypt. Dr. Khashaba has taught various undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has significant experience teaching through accredited systems like RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). He also possesses a solid understanding of NAAB accreditation processes.
Dr. Khashaba has supervised numerous Master’s and Ph.D. theses and has served as an external examiner for many postgraduate dissertations. With over 25 years of experience as a practicing architect and educator, he has made substantial contributions to both academia and the architectural industry. In the field of practical engineering, Dr. Khashaba holds a Consultant Engineer Certificate in Architectural Engineering. He has designed numerous buildings and worked with international firms on large-scale projects in architectural design, building construction, site supervision, interior design, and project management. His scholarly interests focus on the influence of sustainability and technology on architecture and design.
Dr. Khashaba has published extensively in international scientific journals, including Scopus-indexed journals, and has presented his work at international conferences. He has attended notable conferences related to architecture and building construction in the USA, Spain, Greece, Turkey, and several Arab countries. He is an active member of multiple Arab engineering and design associations. In 2023, Dr. Khashaba served on the Peer Review Committee for the International Union of Architects (UIA) Conference on Sustainability held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Additionally, he has reviewed articles for a Q1 Scopus-indexed journal based in the UK.
Dr. Amine Moulay

Dr. Amine Moulay is an Assistant Professor in Urban Planning and Design, chair of the department of Engineering at the Royal University for Women, and fellow of Higher Education Academy, HEA, UK. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Polytechnic school of architecture and urbanism in Algeria. Then he continued with two master’s degrees. First an MBA, Master in Business Administration, major in project management from ESAA (Consortium with HEC Paris, ESCP Europe, Euromed Marseille and Lille 2 university). Second, a Master of Philosophy in Urban Planning and Design followed by a Ph.D in the same major from the University Putra Malaysia (UPM). He used to deliver lectures for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Basically, delivering design and technical courses for undergraduates, and research methodology and management for postgraduates. His main areas of research are Urban Design, architecture, Quality of public places, place attachment, and qualitative methodology through studying with in-depth the non-positivist paradigm. He has been involved in several research projects related to improving the quality of public spaces in cities. He published several papers in Q1 and Q2 journals with high impact factor, and participated in several international conferences (Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, UK, KSA, Japan). He also conducted workshops for students and academic staff on Mendeley, SPSS, and City CAD. His passion is to motivate students to develop their own learning interests and critical thinking, in addition to publishing in ISI journals.
Mr. Sami Mohammed Dagash

Mr. Sami Mohamed Dagash received his BSc degree in Computer Science from Al Zaytoonah University in Jordan and obtained his Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Science (USM) Penang, Malaysia. From 2008-2011, Mr. Sami worked as a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University College of Bahrain where he coordinated the Internship-practicum programme and taught many IT courses. He has a particular interest in Object-Oriented Programming, Web Design, and Visual Programming. Prior to taking up his academic positions he worked alongside IT Project Managers as a Business Development Manager in a specialized IT Company located in Kuwait. Mr. Sami joined the College of Information Technology at the Royal University for Women in September, 2011.

Ms Shurooq Ahmed is a versatile professional with a strong foundation in architecture, education, and research. She holds a Bachelor's in Architecture and a Master's in Engineering Management, both from the University of Bahrain, where she excelled academically. Her research interests centre around the strategic utilization of technology in architecture, focusing on Building Information Modeling (BIM). She has made significant contributions to her field as a technical reviewer for prestigious journals and a prolific author of conference proceedings and journal articles. She teaches Architectural Design, Graduation Projects, Computer-Aided Architectural Design, Advanced Topics in Computer Applications, and computer animation. Her instructional prowess extends to her proficiency in various architectural software, including Revit, Sketchup, and Lumion. Ms Ahmed's practical experience as an architect has enriched her project management and 3D modelling skills. Her dedication extends to community service, where she volunteers for various initiatives. With her diverse background and unwavering commitment, Ms. Shurooq Ahmed continues to shape architectural education, research, and practice in Bahrain and beyond.

Mr. Omar Alwan joined the Royal University for Women (RUW) in 2013. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, where he also completed his Bachelor’s degree. Before joining RUW, Mr. Alwan gained extensive experience in IT Service Management during his tenure at TietoEvry in Sweden.
